  • We approach conflict through Restorative Process at MINKA baed on circle work and restorative Justice principles. To this end, we see conflict as a possible space of learning, where we invite deep listening and and generative presence with rather than quick fixes. This requires and invites us to be response-able.

Please reach out to the lead facilitator of the module if the conflict arises during the session.

If this is outside of the learning module, please reach out to both mamabear.minka@gmail.com and minkacommunity@gmail.com .

  • Life happens - and here are some suggestions for you to consider:

    • First, we ask you to reach out for support, either during the Integration session or privately using the links above.

    • Coordinate with your learning pod.

    • With proper approvals, you may be able to learn self-paced for a period of time as long as you are in communication with your pod and faculty.

    • Take a pause - you can get permission to pause your study, and resume with the next cohort.

  • When embarking on decolonial learning process, it is very common for the mind to go ‘haywire’; this is a natural response when confronted with the dissonance of the reality. You may find it hard to believe - but this means you are exactly where you need to be! This will not be forever, and we are here with you every step of the way.

    Here are a few reminders:

    • Lean into the resourcing session materials - breathwork, somatics, ancestral reverence… You may have a lot more tools than you remember at the moment.

    • Reach out for support - pod members, other cohorts, faculty, administration - you can find the contact list above under ‘support request’.

We do not know how to support you when we do not know your struggles. Please be sure to let us know how you are doing!

  • Community building in the digital era is challenging, and we want to make sure you can feel connected in this learning space.

Here are a few tips on how to move beyond the discomfort of digital community space:

    • Know your communication style, and let others know. “I reply to emails best’, “I am not good at group chat”, “Please call me or leave me a voice note”. While circumstances may not allow this all the time, most people will try their best to honor explicit request.

    • Set up a regular pod meet-up so you gain familiarity over time. We suggest not only focus on ‘work’ but simply get. to know each other by doing something fun. It makes it easier to meet when it is scheduled beforehand.

    • Examine your expectation - we all want community, and we often do not know how to be in non-transactional community. Be transparent in communication, and use the community agreement with your peers.

    • If you have other cohort members locally, consider meeting up in person!

  • We expect students to attend a minimum of 80% of the live class sessions. we understand that life happens, so we ask you communicate your absence at least two weeks in advance when possible.

We ask that if you miss a class, you watch the video of live session before the next class. You may also want to connect with another cohort member for clarity around content and assignments.

  • Building our leadership skills can sometimes bring unexpected feelings to the the surface, we also learn and process inforamation differently. we are human and sometimes need extra support, help or clarity.
